Mountain Climbing in the San Juan Mountains

Our mountain climbing ascents take place in the alpine setting of the San Juan Mountains and the Weminuche Wilderness. We offer a number of single day ascents in the area including Engineer Mountain, Snowdon Peak, North Twighlight Peak, and many more. A great way to get up high in a short period of time. Your trip to Colorado is not complete unless you've climbed a peak!

*In April and May these climbs require crampons, ice axes, and snow travel skills due to conditions in the mountains during that time of year.

Engineer Mountain (12,978 ft.) via the NE Ridge (Beginner)
A full day's hike and climb to the top via the NE Ridge provides stunning views of the entire San Juan Mountain range, the La Plata Mountains, and even the Sleeping Ute near Cortez! This climb begins at 6:30 am at our office in Durango.

Snowdon Peak (13,075 ft.) via the West Buttress (III, 5.2) (Intermediate)
Climb to the top of a 13'er! Slightly more technically challenging and varied climbing takes us to the broad summit of Snowdon Peak, where we'll enjoy fantastic view of the 14'ers in Chicago Basin as well as the inspiring peaks of the Grenadier Range. This climb begins at 6:00 am at our office in Durango.

North Twighlight Peak (13,075 ft.) via the East Ridge (Advanced)
This amazing trip takes us to the Crater Lake Trail and the remote feeling North Twighlight Peak. The 7 mile round trip will be sure to challenge you and make certain that you feel sufficiently tired at the end of the day! This climb begins at 5:30 am at our office in Durango.

Additional Information

Included in Cost: Guiding and instruction, transportation to the climbing area, all group technical equipment required for the ascent with the exception of personal clothing/gear.

Registration and Cancellation: You will need to fill out our Domestic Registration Form, cancellation policy agreement, and liability waiver, and send it to us with a 50% deposit. Balance is due on the first day of the course. Please click on our Registration link to access the required forms.
